Return & Replacement Policy
At GearShift Parts, we want you to receive the right part in good condition.
If you receive the wrong part, a damaged part, or simply need to return an eligible item, we’re here to help.
Please review the simple guidelines below before requesting a return or replacement.
1. 30-Day Return Policy
Most eligible parts can be returned within 30 days of delivery.
To qualify for a standard return, the part must:
- Be unused and uninstalled
- Be in the same condition as when you received it
- Not have been modified, damaged, or disassembled
- Include the original accessories and components, when applicable
- Be returned with the required documentation
- Have prior return approval from GearShift
Some products may have different return terms. If so, those terms will be shown on your product page, invoice, or order confirmation.
2. Before You Return Anything
Please contact GearShift before shipping a part back.
Our team will review your request and provide return instructions.
Do not send a return to an address unless our team has provided that address to you.
This helps us make sure your return reaches the correct location and can be processed quickly.
3. When Can I Request a Replacement?
We can help with a replacement when:
- You received the wrong part
- The part was damaged during shipping
- The part does not match what you ordered
- An eligible part has a qualifying issue covered by our applicable policy
- A replacement is otherwise approved by GearShift
If the same part is available, we will generally try to provide a replacement.
If the same part is not available, we may offer a comparable part, refund, or another appropriate solution.
4. If You Receive the Wrong Part
If you receive a part that is different from what you ordered:
Please do not install it.
Contact us as soon as possible and provide:
- Your order or invoice number
- Photos of the part
- Photos of the shipping label
- Vehicle information, when applicable
Once we confirm the issue, we will provide instructions for returning the incorrect part and arrange an appropriate replacement or refund.
5. If Your Part Arrives Damaged
Please inspect your package when it arrives.
If the part or packaging appears damaged:
- Take photos of the package and part.
- Keep the original packaging.
- Do not install or use the part.
- Contact GearShift within 48 hours of delivery.
We may ask for photographs, videos, or other information to help us review the damage.
Depending on the situation, we may provide a replacement, refund, or another appropriate solution.
For more information about shipping damage, please see our Shipping Policy.
6. Parts That Have Been Installed
Once a part has been installed, it generally cannot be returned under our standard 30-day return policy.
If an installed engine, transmission, or other covered component develops a problem, please contact us before removing, repairing, rebuilding, or disassembling it.
The issue may need to be handled under our Warranty Policy instead.
This is important because we may need to determine the cause of the problem before any repairs are made.
7. Parts That Cannot Normally Be Returned
The following items are generally not eligible for a standard return:
- Installed parts
- Modified or altered parts
- Disassembled or rebuilt parts
- Parts damaged after delivery
- Parts damaged through improper installation or handling
- Special-order or custom-order parts, unless otherwise approved
- Parts missing important components or accessories
- Parts returned without prior authorization
If you are unsure whether your item can be returned, please contact us before shipping it back.
8. Return Shipping
If You Simply Changed Your Mind
If you are returning an eligible part because you no longer need it, ordered incorrectly, or changed your mind:
- Return shipping is generally the customer’s responsibility.
- Original shipping charges may not be refundable.
- A restocking fee may apply.
If GearShift Sent the Wrong Part
If we sent you the wrong part:
- Contact us before returning it.
- Do not install the part.
- We will provide return instructions.
- We will arrange an appropriate replacement or resolution.
If the Part Arrived Damaged
If the damage occurred during shipping, contact us as soon as possible and follow the instructions provided by our team.
9. Restocking Fee
Some approved customer-requested returns may be subject to a 35% restocking fee.
The restocking fee helps cover inspection, handling, processing, repackaging, and inventory costs.
The restocking fee generally does not apply when:
- GearShift shipped the wrong part;
- The part was damaged during shipping and the claim is approved; or
- The return is handled as an approved warranty matter.
We will explain any applicable restocking fee before the return is processed whenever reasonably possible.
10. Engines, Transmissions & Large Parts
Engines, transmissions, and other large components require special handling.
Before returning one of these items, please contact us for instructions.
Depending on the product, you may need to:
- Drain fluids
- Secure the component properly
- Use the original packaging or pallet
- Include all required components
- Follow specific freight instructions
Do not ship a large component back without receiving return instructions from GearShift.
11. Core Returns
Some engines, transmissions, or other components may be sold with a core charge or refundable core deposit.
If a core return is required, the original core must be returned within the timeframe stated on your invoice or order documentation.
The core must be returned in acceptable condition and in accordance with the instructions provided by GearShift.
Once the core is received and approved, the applicable core deposit will be processed according to the terms of your order.
12. Refunds
Once we receive an authorized return, we will inspect the item.
If the return is approved, the applicable refund will generally be issued to the original payment method.
Depending on your bank or payment provider, it may take additional time for the refund to appear in your account.
Any applicable:
- Restocking fee
- Return shipping charge
- Processing charge
- Customer-caused damage charge
may be deducted from the refund.
13. Replacement Instead of Refund
In many cases, we may offer a replacement instead of a refund.
If the same part is available, we will generally try to provide the same or an appropriate replacement.
If the original part is no longer available, we may offer:
- A comparable replacement;
- A refund; or
- Another appropriate solution.
Replacement availability depends on current inventory.
14. Warranty Claims Are Different From Returns
Our Return & Replacement Policy applies primarily to eligible unused or uninstalled products and other approved return situations.
If an installed engine, transmission, or other covered part develops a qualifying problem, the issue may be handled under our Warranty Policy.
Before removing or repairing an installed component, please contact our warranty team.
For complete warranty information, please see our:
Warranty Policy
15. Fitment & Incorrect Orders
We strongly recommend confirming fitment before placing your order.
Please provide accurate:
- Year
- Make
- Model
- Engine
- VIN, when requested
Our team can help verify fitment before shipping.
If you ordered the wrong part because incorrect or incomplete vehicle information was provided, the order may be treated as a customer-requested return and applicable return shipping or restocking charges may apply.
If GearShift confirms the wrong part was shipped, we will work with you on an appropriate replacement or resolution.
16. Return Inspection
All returned products are inspected before a refund or replacement is finalized.
We may check:
- Condition of the part
- Whether it has been installed
- Missing components
- Physical damage
- Signs of modification
- Packaging
- Whether the returned item matches the original order
If the item does not meet the return requirements, the return may be denied or the refund may be adjusted.
17. Please Keep Your Original Packaging
We recommend keeping the original packaging until you have confirmed that the part is correct and in good condition.
If a return or replacement becomes necessary, the original packaging may help protect the part during transportation.
For large or freight-shipped parts, keeping the original pallet and packaging is especially important.
