Warranty Policy

At GearShift Parts, we stand behind the quality of the used engines, transmissions, and auto parts we sell.

Our warranty is designed to give you confidence in your purchase and provide coverage for eligible products when a covered component experiences a qualifying failure during the warranty period.

Please review the simple terms below to understand what is covered and how to request warranty assistance.

Our 3-Year Warranty

Eligible engines and transmissions purchased from GearShift Parts are covered for:

3 Years from the Date of Purchase

Warranty coverage for other auto parts may vary and will be stated on the product page, invoice, or order confirmation.

What Is Covered?

Our warranty covers major internal mechanical components of eligible engines and transmissions.

Engine Warranty

For eligible gasoline and diesel engines, covered components may include:

  • Pistons and piston pins

  • Connecting rods and rod bearings
  • Camshaft and camshaft bearings
  • Intake and exhaust valves
  • Valve springs
  • Oil pump

Seals and Gaskets

Seals and gaskets are covered when they are part of a repair involving a covered component.

A seal or gasket leak by itself is not considered a covered internal component failure unless otherwise stated on your invoice or warranty documentation.

What Is Not Covered?

Our warranty does not cover problems caused by:

  • Improper installation
  • Incorrect installation procedures
  • Abuse or misuse
  • Neglect
  • Racing or competition use
  • Commercial or industrial use outside the intended application
  • Unauthorized modification or alteration
  • Continued operation after a serious warning sign or known problem
  • Lack of proper lubrication or cooling
  • Incorrect or incompatible fluids
  • Faulty external parts or accessories
  • Electrical components, sensors, or switches unless specifically covered
  • Damage caused by another vehicle component
  • Normal wear and maintenance items

Warranty coverage may also be affected if required installation or maintenance procedures are not followed.

Professional Installation Is Required

To help ensure proper installation and warranty coverage, engines and transmissions should be installed by a qualified automotive repair facility.

We strongly recommend having the installation performed by an ASE-certified automotive facility.

For Engine Installation

Depending on the vehicle and engine, proper installation may include:

  • Installing a new thermostat
  • Replacing the timing belt where applicable
  • Replacing required fluids and filters
  • Checking the cooling system
  • Inspecting related components
  • Following applicable manufacturer installation procedures

For Transmission Installation

Proper installation may include:

  • Replacing the transmission fluid
  • Replacing the transmission filter where applicable
  • Flushing the transmission cooler and lines
  • Replacing required seals and gaskets
  • Inspecting related components
  • Following applicable manufacturer installation procedures

If you are unsure about any installation requirement, please contact us before installation.

What Should I Do If My Part Has a Problem?

If you believe your engine, transmission, or another covered part has developed a problem, contact GearShift before removing, repairing, rebuilding, or disassembling the part.

Our team will guide you through the warranty process.

If your claim is approved, we will work with you to provide a replacement part or another appropriate resolution. If a suitable replacement is unavailable, a refund may be offered.

Step 1 – Contact Us

Call or email our team and provide:

  • Order or invoice number
  • Vehicle year, make, and model
  • VIN, if available
  • Current mileage
  • Description of the problem
  • Date the part was installed

Step 2 – Provide Documentation

Depending on the issue, we may request:

  • Original purchase invoice
  • Installation invoice
  • Repair or service records
  • Diagnostic report
  • Photos or videos
  • Odometer photographs
  • Technician’s diagnosis

Providing complete information helps us review your claim faster.

Step 3 – Inspection

In some cases, we may need to inspect the part to determine the cause of the problem.

If a return or inspection is required, our team will provide instructions.

Please do not send a part back without contacting us first.

Step 4 – Resolution

If the claim is approved, GearShift may provide:

  • A replacement part;
  • An appropriate repair; or
  • A refund of the original purchase price when a suitable replacement is unavailable.

The final resolution will depend on the circumstances of the claim and availability of a suitable replacement.

Important: Contact Us Before Repairs

If you believe a covered part has failed, please contact us before removing or repairing the part.

Removing, rebuilding, modifying, or disassembling a component without first contacting GearShift may make it difficult for us to determine the cause of the problem and may affect warranty eligibility.

We want to help, so please give our warranty team an opportunity to review the issue first.

What About Labor Costs?

Unless specifically stated on your invoice or in writing, our warranty covers the eligible part and does not cover:

  • Installation labor
  • Removal labor
  • Diagnostic charges
  • Towing
  • Rental vehicles
  • Replacement fluids
  • Filters
  • Related repairs
  • Loss of income or business
  • Other incidental expenses

We recommend confirming installation and related costs with your repair facility before beginning work.

Mileage Information

GearShift sells used engines, transmissions, and other automotive components rather than complete vehicles.

Because these components may have been removed from vehicles before being sold, exact historical odometer readings may not always be independently verified.

We make reasonable efforts to provide accurate mileage information based on available records and supplier information.

Any mileage information provided for a used component should be considered an estimate unless specifically documented otherwise.

GearShift does not support or participate in odometer tampering or mileage misrepresentation.

Warranty Is for the Original Purchaser

Warranty coverage applies to the original purchaser named on the applicable sales invoice unless otherwise agreed to in writing.

Please retain your original invoice or purchase documentation because it may be required when submitting a warranty claim.

Shipping Damage

If your part arrives damaged, please do not install it.

Instead:

  • Take photographs of the package and the part.
  • Keep the original packaging.
  • Contact GearShift within 48 hours of delivery.
  • Follow the instructions provided by our customer service team.

Shipping-related damage is handled according to our Shipping Policy and Return & Replacement Policy.

Returns Are Covered Separately

This Warranty Policy applies to eligible warranty claims after purchase.

For returns of unused or uninstalled parts, order cancellations, incorrect parts, and other return-related matters, please see our:

Return & Replacement Policy

Our separate Return & Replacement Policy explains eligibility, return authorization, shipping responsibility, restocking fees, refunds, and replacement procedures.

If your claim is approved, we will work with you to provide a replacement part or another appropriate resolution. If a suitable replacement is unavailable, a refund may be offered.

Warranty and Vehicle Fitment

We want to help you get the right part for your vehicle.

Before purchasing, we recommend providing your:

  • Year
  • Make
  • Model
  • Engine
  • VIN

Our team may assist with fitment verification based on the information you provide.

Please make sure the information you provide is accurate. If incorrect or incomplete vehicle information is provided, compatibility issues may result.

For the best experience, verify fitment before installation.

Our responsibility under this warranty is limited to the applicable warranty remedy described in this policy.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, GearShift is not responsible for:

  • Installation or removal labor
  • Towing expenses
  • Rental or replacement vehicles

California Governing Law

This Warranty Policy and any dispute relating to an eligible purchase or warranty claim shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of California, subject to any consumer rights or protections that cannot legally be waived.
